Welcome to You’ve Got This, [Girl]!
A blog which aims to share information about mental health and mental health conditions with the aim of breaking the stigma.
Introducing ‘You’ve Got This, [Girl]!
That was the parting phrase of a mental health nurse who had been assigned to support me. It was an off-the-cuff remark which has become one of many mantras I use to keep me focused on improving and maintaining my mental health.
If I were to ask you how to manage your physical health, what would you say? Eat healthily? Exercise? Keep a good sleep routine?
Now if I were to ask how you manage your mental health, what would you say?
…
I have been managing my mental health on and off since the age of 13 but it was around 5 years ago that it seemed like an insurmountable challenge. At that point it became apparent that I needed to put some work in to improve my mental health rather than just managing the symptoms that arose.
It’s a Process…
Five years on, I am still putting the work in.
‘You’ve Got This [Girl]: A Mental Health Blog’, is intended to share some of what I have learnt about my mental health and the strategies I continue to develop: with the aim of giving ideas to readers, opening up the conversation around mental health and helping to break the stigma around mental health conditions.
So all that is left for me to say is: “You’ve Got This [Girl]!”
